FAQs

How do I know which therapist I should see?

When you first contact the Blue Door Practice, either our Director of Practice or the Head of Service will arrange a call to discuss your needs. They will make sure we are the right people to help you and if so, which therapist would be the best fit.

What happens next? How do I get a referral?

You do not need a referral to begin working with a Blue Door therapist; please contact us by email or telephone and we will discuss your needs with you. However, you may have been referred by your GP or another professional. If this is the case, we will liaise with them as appropriate.

What is the cost of each session?

You can find out more information about the cost of sessions here

How do I pay?

The Blue Door Practice offers three payment options:

  1. A credit or debit card is saved to your client file and payment is automatically taken for sessions as they occur. This is the most popular payment option as it requires the least input by you.

  2. In-person card payment is available for appointments at our Fitzrovia office which is usually open between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday-Friday. Please note that should you choose option 2 and pay in person, we still require a credit/debit card on file in the unlikely event that you miss a payment.

  3. Pay direct on invoice link

Can I claim for sessions through my insurance company?

Some medical insurance companies will include cover for therapy at Blue Door. It is your responsibility to confirm this with your provider before commencing therapy.

Authorisation needs to have been granted before sessions begin. We ask our clients to pay us directly for their sessions and will provide invoices and receipts so that these funds can be reimbursed by your insurance company.

Unfortunately we do not accept AXA PPP or BUPA UK insurance, although we do accept BUPA GLOBAL.

Where is the practice?

The Blue Door Practice is located at 32 Fitzroy Square, London, W1T 6EZ.

When you arrive at 32 Fitzroy Square, please press the reception bell or, if after 5pm, bell number 4. After you are buzzed in, please check in at Reception which is the second door on the right and then take a seat in the waiting room which is the first room on the right on the Ground Floor. Your therapist will meet you in the waiting room at the time of your appointment.

Do you offer remote sessions?

We recognise that working remotely through safe, secure online platforms can be effective and convenient, depending on your needs. If this is something you are interested in, please let us know when you contact us and we can discuss which therapist would be able to accommodate this.

What if I am already working with other clinical professionals e.g. a psychiatrist, or child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS)?

At the Blue Door we believe in collaboration and that, in some circumstances, building an expert team around an individual or a family can be an important part of the therapy.

We draw on our extensive network of professionals within the practice and beyond to tailor the therapeutic support when this is required. This may involve existing professionals you are already working with. This can be discussed at your first conversation with the Director of the Practice or Head of Service.

What do I do if there is an emergency and I am worried about my safety or someone else’s?

The Blue Door is not an emergency service. Please follow one of these options depending on the situation:

  • Call 999 if you need an ambulance

  • Contact your GP

  • Attend the nearest A&E department or call NHS 111

  • Call the Samaritans’ 24-hour helpline on 116 123 or, for those under 18, call Childline on 0800 1111

How do you look after my personal information? Are you GDPR compliant?
