Kim Moriarty

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over eighteen years of experience, twelve of which have been spent working specifically with children and adolescents. I have helped clients with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation and adjustment difficulties. Other common issues include difficulties with confidence and low self-esteem and concerns arising from bullying and exam / school-based anxiety. I have a particular interest in working with children and young people from expat families based on both my clinical work and my personal experience of raising children abroad.

I work with children and young people individually and/or with their parents, as well as providing consultation and liaison to outside agencies, such as schools. I mainly provide cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) but my work also incorporates a range of therapeutic approaches including narrative techniques, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness.

I work collaboratively with each client to develop a tailored therapeutic plan with clear treatment goals. I have a non-confrontational, supportive approach to treatment and I find it particularly rewarding to work with young people who have found it difficult to engage in the therapeutic process.

I have worked with children in a wide range of settings, from the NHS and private practice to the juvenile justice system, both in the UK and overseas. I have worked with clients with severe and enduring mental health problems, challenging behaviours and those with substance misuse issues.
