Joanna Rodriguez

Health Psychologist and CBT Therapist

As a CBT therapist I use a collaborative, trusting and empathic approach to therapy. Together with the client, we develop an awareness and understanding of the clients’ perspective of the self, others and the world. We then use this understanding to formulate current or past difficulties, looking at their thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions in relation to any difficulties that they may be experiencing and the context in which they occur.

As a Health Psychologist I incorporate CBT as well as other psychological approaches to offer a more holistic stance to condition management. Therapy is typically active, which means that the client will have things that they can do between sessions.

I have over 18 years of clinical experience, working with individuals and groups in a variety of NHS and private mental health settings. During this time I’ve also been involved in the set up and delivery of Primary Care Mental Health Services and was a Director of Studies at the University of Surrey for 8 years on the Psychological Wellbeing Programme.
