Founder Member for The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis and The Blue Door Practice

I work from the premise that psychotherapy needs to be a dialogue between two equals. The chemistry between patient and client is an essential healing ingredient. Does your shoe fit?

People may feel they have unspeakable experiences, or thoughts they have been waiting to express all their lives but for one reason or another have been too afraid. Therapy is the confidential space where we can drop our mask and find a trained and kind listener.

I worked as an actor at the Royal Court Theatre, until I read the ‘The Divided Self’ and worked with R.D. Laing. I trained as a Jungian psychoanalyst at the Society of Analytical Psychology.

I visited St Petersburg for over 10 years as Consultant to the Eastern European Institute for Psychoanalysis where I contributed to developing their curriculum and became familiar with different cultural approaches to psychotherapy.

I have published several books and articles including ‘Who is it that can tell me who I am?’ which was shortlisted for the PEN Memoir Prize. I regularly write for the media including Vogue, Psychologies Today and the London Magazine. I have a passion for the novels of Marcel Proust (and dogs!) and have been a contributor on ‘Start the Week’ to discuss literary topics.

I work with the following conditions:

  • Relationship, identity issues, sexual diversity

  • Existential angst and Depression

  • Postnatal depression

  • Menopause and women’s health

  • Dream analysis

  • Individuation from the collective unconscious and Jungian archetypes

  • I also offer mentoring consultations exploring creativity and writer’s block

  • Young Adult, Adult
