Imogen Moore

Child Counsellor

I bring an unconditional, accepting and compassionate presence when working with children and young people. This supports them to establish creative ways of understanding and expressing their emotional worlds, leading them to improve their relationships to themselves and others. Therapy may also be a safe place to explore unhelpful unconscious belief systems that are causing distress or getting in the way of day to day life. My creative art therapy training supports my clients and enables the work to be tailored to the unique nature of each young person.

My approach is grounded in an appreciation of the importance of building authentic and trusting therapeutic relationships with clients and their families, and promoting healthy communication to support the development of greater wellbeing and closeness within them.

I am a BACP accredited child counsellor with a diploma in the therapeutic use of the arts and an MA in psychoanalytic studies.

I work within an integrative framework which means my approach incorporates a wide range of theoretical perspectives and techniques. I am informed by attachment theory, psychoanalysis, neurobiology, and somatic mindfulness.

I have experience in my clinical work in both the public and private school sector, with a focus on support for children with neurodiversity, including  autism and ADHD. I have worked closely with families facing challenges such as divorce, family conflict, domestic violence and bereavement. My academic roots are in philosophy, ethics and psychosocial research. I have also worked as a tutor for children of all ages with a particular focus on academic anxiety.
