Dr Bijal Chheda-Varma is primarily an adult psychotherapist and consultant psychologist whose work is based on intensive but goal oriented and time limited treatment and therapy. She uses evidence based treatment models and CBT is her pre-dominant therapy style in both individual and group therapy. Bijal sees a wide spectrum of clinical and complex psychological conditions such as the bi-polar spectrum, eating disorders, obesity, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders.
Bijal specializes in the process of assessment and diagnosis of conditions based on psychometric and neuro-psychiatric tools. A central area of her expertise is in the complex assessment and treatment of adult and late adolescent ADHD.
Alongside her private practice she was CBT Lead Therapist at the Nightingale Hospital (previously named The Capio) from June 2013 to June 2014 and also works with the Practitioner Health Programme, an NHS funded treatment for sick doctors and dentists, where Bijal offers specialist neuro-psychiatric and psychological assessments and CBT therapy.
Bijal holds several research interests and keeps her fingers dipped in academia and research through doctorate supervision and examination. Currently, she is Honorary Chair of Special Interest Group for Eating Disorders (BABCP).
