Andrew Siese

Systemic Family Psychotherapist

I worked for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS, NHS) for 27 years, where I was employed on a full-time basis as the NHS Trust's Consultant Family/Systemic Psychotherapist. My role was in Leading the Family/Systemic Therapists and the Arts Therapists in CAMHS across East Sussex/West Sussex and Brighton & Hove. This involved supervision of therapists; multi-agency work and liaising with stakeholders. I continue to work part-time for the NHS Trust as a Senior Family/Systemic Psychotherapist following my decision to focus more on my therapeutic work.

My work includes engaging complex presentations in young people regarding issues such as:

  • Complex family relationships

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation

  • Emotional intensity

  • Neurodiversity

My style is to work with individuals and families in a friendly and open way, encouraging thoughtful reflection of family patterns, strengths and difficulties. I help locate problems in interactions rather than in people and seek to create opportunities for positive outcomes. I can work with individuals, couples and whole families depending on what is required. My approach is non-judgemental, discreet and sensitive. I have benefitted from helping families with a very wide range of difficulties and I am able to bring a broad range of skills and techniques to my therapeutic work.

I am married with a family – with two grown up children – and we are enjoying the recent arrival of grandchildren.
